Build own website - hosting your domain

We prefer to register a Domain with one Company and Host through another, this is to ensure one company will not have entire control over our website, if our Host was to be shut down for some reason we would still have our Domain Name, allowing us to find a new host and keep our domain name intact.

How to Register and Choose a Domain Name With GoDaddy

How to Register and Choose a Domain Name With GoDaddy

So you have a website address that you want to promote, but you've ran into a problem. Either it's too hard to remember, or it isn't usable with certain websites. The solution to your problem is to buy a domain name.

There are many sites that offer domain names for you to buy: 1and1.com, One.com, Register.com, or my recommended favorite, GoDaddy.com. GoDaddy is one of the most popular web hosting sites (you may recognize Danica Patrick as the Go Daddy girl) and has great prices: just $6.99 per year for your own domain name (This price is a special offer and I don't know how long it will last).

Here is a list of steps to take in order to get your own domain name with forwarding:

1) Go to GoDaddy.com

2) Near the top of the homepage there is a green bar with different categories listed. Click on the "Domains" category and you will be taken to a new page.

3) Here will be where you enter your domain name to see if it is available. The choice of a ".com" web domain is already chosen for you, and I recommend using a.com because you're trying to make this web address easy to remember, and.com is the easiest domain to remember.

Now enter your domain name choice into the box that has an arrow pointing to it, saying "Start your domain name search here!". When you have finished entering your domain name (it could be anything you want, but I suggest using something that pertains to website), click "Search". You will be brought to a new page.

4) 1 of 2 things will happen, it will be available, or it won't be.

*If your domain name isn't available, it will tell you and offer you a box to enter a new domain name in. Keep trying until you get one that you like.

*If it is available, and you want to keep that domain name, click the "Add" button next to where it says that your name is available. A box will pop us with your domain name in it, you can exit out of this box. Then, you can add more names on this page, or by doing another search in the box a little lower down on the page.

If that is the only name you want, click the "Continue to Registration" button just to the right and above where the "Add" button was. You will probably get an offer for a deal on other names, you can just click, "No Thanks".

5) To register you will most likely have to create an account, unless you already have one. If you have an account already, you can just log in, otherwise, fill out the required information, and click "Continue".

6) At the checkout page, fill in all of your billing information, and make sure that your order is correct. Continue by clicking "Checkout Now".

7) You will be brought a a "Thank You For Your Order" confirmation page, letting you know that your order was successful. You will also receive a sales confirmation e-mail and support e-mail. From this page you can print out your receipt and log into your account. Your receipt will include your customer number, order number, login name and login password.

8) Your sales confirmation e-mail will have similar information to your receipt, as well as additional instructions and information about you account and how to manage your products. Your support e-mail will confirm that the sale was completed successfully, and give further instructions on how to log in to your GoDaddy.com account.

Online business names

Choosing a domain name for your business can be quite difficult, and can take a lot of time to come up with a name. We have put together a short article to help you make that decision.

What are you selling?

Use Google's Keyword tool to find out how many times online your products or services are typed into Google. So if you were going to be selling "Handmade jewellery" as an example. You would go to Google's keyword tool and type into the search box "Handmade jewellery".

Once you hit enter you will then have in front of you loads of keywords results for "handmade jewellery". Once you have all the results on the right hand side change the "Match Type" to Exact.

This will then give you an exact number of times that your keywords are typed into Google on a local and global scale. At the time this article was written the Keyword phrase "Handmade Jewellery" had a exact local search volume of 18,100. Look for any high volumes of search results for domain name ideas.

Decisions, decisions

Now its time for you to make the decision. Do you want to purchase a domain name for you business that is your own brand name, or a keyword domain which is already getting search results? It can be quite difficult to make a decision. One key thing to think about if the domain name for your keywords is available is to snap it up straight away whether you intend to use it or not.

If you do decide to purchase the keyword domain for your business, the next decision to make is what domain extension you will purchase. If you are a UK business or are based in the UK the best extension for Google.co.uk is of course.co.uk and.org.uk.

Google.co.uk treats them both exactly the same and you will get great results from them. It makes sense for businesses in certain categories to purchase and use keyword domains as you will instantly get a certain percentage of the search volume to your website a month and visitors mean sales!

If you purchased the.co.uk extension for handmade jewellery and you only received 5% of the 18,000 search volume a month that is still 900 visitors to your site a month, which certainly cant be grumbled at!

If you decide to use your own name to promote your business it must at least contain one keyword not only help people to remember the name of your business, but also get you he results from the search engines.

So for example if your name was Emma and you were in the process of setting up a handmade jewellery store your domain should look something like this "Emmas handmade jewels.co.uk" or "Emmas handmade jewellery.co.uk" (obviously without the spaces).

These examples contain those valuable keywords. Sometimes having a branded domain can be beneficial, if people forget the name of your business, because they've lost your business card they will probably remember your name was Emma and type into Google "Emma's handmade jewels" and bosh they've found your business again, because it was easy to remember and it contained those keywords.

Remember you can still call your business "Emmas handmade Jewels", but make sure you use that keyword rich domain name as it will get you great results in the search results.

There you have it, a quick guide to help you choose the right domain name for your website. All of the domains and names in this articles are only examples.

How to Search Name by Email Address - The Simple Ways to Find Who You're Looking For

How to Search Name by Email Address
The Simple Ways to Find Who You're Looking For

By Jamie Rhodes

The first thing that goes through a person's mind when they receive an email they don't recognize is "who is this?" The second thing that goes through their mind is "how do I find out who this email belongs to?"

This is a natural reaction because of all the spam email going around these days. If you open an email from someone you don't know it can lead to viruses and other dangerous programs getting installed on your PC.

Well, how do you search a name by email address and find out the identity of the mystery person behind emails? There are actually a number of different ways you can go about doing this.

One of the first things you can do involves looking at the first part of the email address right before the @ symbol. A majority of the time part of the person's first name or last name could be in the address. So try to examine the beginning part of the email and see if you can recognize either their first or last name.

While examining the beginning part of the email address you should look for any initials, nick names, or middle names that you recognize. If you don't recognize the first part of the email the next thing you should look at is the domain name. Ask yourself if you recognize the domain name or if it looks similar to a company you know.

Take the domain name and place it in the search box of a search engine. When you search using a search engine see if any web pages pop up in the search results. If so, then you might see it's one of your friends blogs or a company web site.

Another simple way to search a name by email address is to view all the headers in the email. You can also do a domain name lookup search on the domain name of the email address. Use a search engine like Google and search for domain name lookup. This might provide you with information or who the domain belongs to.

Finally, if all else fails you can use an email address lookup. This is a powerful tool that some services provide that was made for searching for a name by email address. There is a small one time fee for the best ones, but the small fee is worth it since it will save you a lot of time and allow you to perform as many advanced searches as you need.
